The 2008 Houston International Festival Business Conference, Africa: Opportunities with a Social Conscience, will explore sustainable development initiatives on the African continent. Participants will hear from top experts from the U.S. and Africa on both economic development projects and social stability issues that affect Houston businesses interested in this emerging global marketplace. Speakers include:

• H.E. Purificacion Angue Ondo — Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea to the United States
• H.E. Carolos Boungou — Ambassador of Gabon to the United States
• H.E. Charles A. Minor — Ambassador of Liberia to the United States
• H.E. Samuel Assefa — Ambassador of Ethiopia to the United States
• Mr. William D. Jackson — Director of African Affairs, United States Representative, Executive Office of the President
• Mr. Steven B. Hinchman — Executive Vice President, Technology and Services, Marathon Oil Corporation
• T.H. Andrew Young — Co-Chairman, Good Works International; Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations

The program will conclude with a networking luncheon and keynote address. This conference is part of the 2008 Houston International Festival (iFest) – the largest cultural celebration of its kind in the U.S. The iFest fosters good will relations with other countries in an effort to stimulate international trade.
