Having received a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Electrical and Computer engineering and a M.S. in electrical and computer engineering and a B.S. in nuclear Engineering from the National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan, Dr. Lin began his career as an Associate Professor in the college of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Houston. He has more than 17 years of experience in molecular beam epitaxy and in design and optimization of modulators and lasers. Currently, AOI is the number two supplier in the world for video lasers.

He has been issued nine U.S. patents from the U.S. Patent Office, has published 49 refereed journal publications and 41 refereed conference publications.

The company's headquarters houses state-of-the-art equipment which allow vertically-integrated production by combining design, wafer growth, processing, packagin, and testing leading to a complete source for cutting edge semiconductor component manufacture. The facility is located in SugarLand, Texas.
