The Economic Development Division drives regional economic development, partnering with a network of business leaders, public officials and economic development allies to proved an array of services to companies with retention, expansion and relocation projects. Among the services we provide are: coordinating site-selection trips, assisting in the evaluation and application of incentives, and providing economic and demographic data on key business factors.
We are actively engaged in the 81st Legislative Session and strongly support the following initiatives that promote economic development in our region:
- Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF): To support the continued funding and structure for the Texas Enterprise Fund.
- Texas Emerging Technology Fund: To support the continued funding and structure for the Texas Emerging Technology Fund.
- Texas Enterprise Zone Program: To support the continued funding and structure for the Texas Enterprise Zone.
- Skills Development Fund: To support the continued funding of the State of Texas' primary workforce training incentive at or exceeding the current level.
- Local Property and Sales Tax Incentives: To support the continuation of local government authority to enter into sales and property tax abatement and rebate agreements to support economic development projects.
- "4A" and "4B" Sales Tax: To support the continuation of "4A" and "4B" Sales Tax.
- Tax Credits: To incorporate research and development, job creation and capital investment credits, previously available under the franchise tax, into the Margins tax.
- HB 1200 (Texas Economic Development Act): To amend HB 1200 to include data centers.
- Regional Brownfield Redevelopment Programs: To support the continuation of regional brownfield redevelopment programs.
- Sustainable Industries Incentives: To establish financial incentives for sustainable industries at the state level.
