The Environment Program works with environmental policy at the local, state and federal levels to ensure that a balance between the protection of public health and natural resources and the need for a productive and growing economy are met. The Program is subdivided into two focus issue areas.
- Air quality
Advocate for air quality policies that enhance the Houston region's quality of life and economic competitiveness with emphasis on the attainment of the 8-hour ozone standard.
- Water
Identification and evaluation of cost-effective, scientifically supported water and wetlands policies and examining issues surrounding regional solutions for water treatment and distribution.
