Greater Houston Partnership (GHP)

Public Policy 2020

What is Public Policy 2020?

A strategic effort to engage business and civic leaders to identify the region's most pressing issues that need to be addressed over the course of the next several years.

Why Now?

In the last few years, the Partnership has had great success in public policy at the local, state and federal level, and has achieved key wins in the areas of transportation, education, tax reform, water and economic development incentives, to name a few. But with Houston’s eminent status as the next great global city, there is still much work to do.

How Will It Work?

The Public Policy Division currently engages business and civic leaders from all different industry sectors, each bringing invaluable knowledge and commitment to our public policy development process. By collaborating with Houston's business leaders from across a range of industries, together we can identify the region’s most pressing issues and develop the necessary solutions to make Houston greater.

With help from our third-party consultant, Credera, the Public Policy Division is holding a series of strategic planning sessions with each of the six policy advisory committees to discuss the key issues affecting:

Education
Energy
Environment

Healthcare
Quality of Place
Transportation
