Tax & Fiscal Policy Issues
The Greater Houston Partnership through its business issues committees identifies policy issues that affect the business community and the economic climate of the region. The Partnership also works with elected officials and influential working groups to develop policies which ensure growth of the region's economy and member industries.
The Partnership is actively participating in the 80th Session of the Texas Legislature. The primary business will be addressing the unintended consequences of the margin tax that was enacted in the 3rd Special Session of the 79 th Texas Legislature.
Resolutions:
In 2006 the Greater Houston Partnership supported initiatives such as business tax reform, the expansion of offshore oil and gas development, the Mayor's Workplace Initiative and smokefree workplaces. The Partnership also collaborated with regional, state and federal lawmakers on issues such as tort reform and workers' compensation.
