Charles W. Duncan
Charles W. Duncan, Jr., is a past chairman of the Partnership's Environment Advisory Committee and the Business Coalition for Clean Air.
Duncan joined Duncan Foods Company in 1947 and was elected president in 1958. When Duncan Foods merged into The Coca-Cola Company in 1964, Duncan was elected to the company's board.
He served as deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Defense from January 1977 to August 1979 and as secretary of the Department of Energy from August 1979 until January 1981.
Duncan is treasurer and director of The Methodist Hospital. He is a trustee emeritus and past chairman of the board of governors of Rice University. He was also appointed commissioner on the Texas National Research Laboratory Commission and continues to be actively involved with other civic, charitable and corporate organizations.
He has a chemical engineering graduate of Rice University. He also completed two years of management study at the University of Texas. Following graduation from Rice, Duncan worked as a chemical engineer for Humble Oil & Refining Company (now ExxonMobil).
