Ready Set Next is changing that.

Built for Houston, Ready Set Next is an individualized career navigation experience designed to help every student and worker better understand their strengths, interests and skills — and connect to the pathways, programs and organizations that can help them move toward family-sustaining careers.

Houston has talent. It has employers, training programs, community organizations and career pathways.

They are real, but scattered across school districts, workforce programs, industries and neighborhoods, they can be hard to find and harder to navigate.

ReadySet Next brings these pieces together in one guided experience, helping students and adults explore careers, understand what it takes to get there and connect to the programs, people and opportunities that can help them move forward.

Built for Houston by the Greater Houston Partnership and powered by Pathful, ReadySet Next is designed to help more people see what is possible and take the next step toward it.

What Is ReadySet Next?

ReadySet Next is the next phase of the Greater Houston Partnership’s Connectivity Project, a core part of UpSkill Houston’s work to better connect education, workforce systems and employers. Formerly referred to as the Connectivity Platform, ReadySet Next brings that vision to life as a guided career navigation experience for the Houston region. Designed to connect people to opportunity, ReadySet Next brings together career discovery, education pathways, work-based learning, community support and employer connections into one personalized, AI-powered experience. It helps individuals understand the best use of their interests, abilities and experience, and then connects them to real next steps.

Why it Matters

A lack of talent or opportunity has never been an issue. It is the lack of connection between it all.

Students and adults often make education and career decisions without clear, outcome-oriented information. Employers need more efficient ways to connect with prepared candidates and shape the talent pipelines they depend on. Educators and training providers need stronger signals from industry. Community organizations need tools that help connect the people they serve to pathways that lead to long-term economic mobility.

Where the Work Stands

ReadySet Next is currently in development and will launch through a phased pilot approach. The first phase will focus on the resident experience, helping students and adults explore careers, discover work-based learning opportunities and compare education and training pathways. Early pilots will allow the project team and partners to test the user experience, gather feedback, validate recommendations and strengthen the platform before broader rollout. Future phases will expand employer, education and community partner tools, including talent management, program management, job matching, support service connections and deeper work-based learning functionality. This phased approach allows ReadySet Next to grow responsibly — testing, learning and improving as more partners and users engage with the platform.
