The Women's Business Alliance (WBA), a program of the Greater Houston Partnership, is hosting a workshop focusing on critical conversations on Wednesday, August 7.
In this educational and interactive session, Jamie Belinne, Assistant Dean at the University of Houston's C.T. Bauer College of Business will help you decide if, when and how you should initiate constructive conversations to get unstuck in personal and professional relationships when the outcomes matter to you. More importantly, she’ll discuss how to preserve important relationships, while still being honest with others about your goals and feelings.
Why did someone take credit for your work? What should we be aware of when handling critical conversations with a colleague who is a different gender? Why was someone else’s lack of planning your crisis again? Why can’t everyone get their own dishes into the dishwasher?!?! Have you ever had a person or situation in your life where things felt uncomfortable or stuck, and no matter what you did, you just couldn’t seem to make things change? Is there a challenging person with whom you’ve been too afraid to start a difficult conversation? Or maybe there’s someone who has a special knack for “pushing your buttons”?
Her straightforward, four-step process can make even the most terrifying conversations both productive and constructive for all involved.
