Nearly one-third of Houstonians 25 years or older is a college graduate (32.4 percent)—a rate higher than that of the U.S. (32.0 percent) and Texas (29.6 percent).

Field of Study Table

According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2017 American Community Survey, science, engineering and related degrees have been awarded to 701,353 Houstonians or 48.9 percent of Houston’s college graduates—compared to 44.7 percent of college graduates nationwide, and 44.4 of college graduates in Texas.
