Around 1 million people in the 18 southeast Texas counties served by Houston Food Bank are considered food insecure, meaning they lack consistent access to enough nutritious food to fuel a healthy life. In order to address this issue, the Houston Food Bank distributes food and other essentials to those in need through a network of more than 1,600 community partners. In addition, we also provide programs and services aimed at helping families achieve long-term stability including nutrition education, job training, health management, and help in securing state-funded assistance.

The mission of Dress for Success Houston (DFSH) is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and developmental tools to help them thrive in work and life. The agency’s objective is to create systemic change by equipping thousands of Houston-area women, each year, with the resources needed to attain long-term employment and success - ultimately building skilled leaders in our community. We provide professional attire and interview readiness to underserved women prepared to enter the workforce who are referred by more than 120 member organizations at no cost. Through our more than 20 programs offered, women are able to participate in workshops based on their individual needs including job search skills, career education and job retention. DFSH is committed to serving all women veterans in the Greater Houston area through 22 specialized veteran service days, lunch and learns, and career and resource fairs. Since 2014, we are honored to share we have served more than 1,300 women veterans.
