Statement Attributable to Bob Harvey, President and CEO, Greater Houston Partnership

“We applaud Governor Abbott for taking the step today to require Texans to take personal responsibility for protecting their friends and family by wearing a mask, social distancing, and avoiding gatherings of more than 10 people.

We join with the Governor to encourage all Houstonians to stay home as much as possible, wear masks when out in public, maintain social distancing and wash your hands frequently.

If we let the virus continue to spread in Houston, it will have dire consequences – in terms of both the health of our families, friends, and neighbors and the state of our economy.  We must join together as a community to stop the spread.”

On July 4th weekend:
“As COVID-19 cases continue to spike in Houston, it is important that Houstonians celebrate a safe July 4th weekend. While the holiday is normally a time to celebrate with family and friends, this year we encourage Houstonians to celebrate with your own household only. Our ability to keep our family and friends safe and our economy open depends on everyone doing their part this Fourth of July.”
