Statement Attributable to Bob Harvey, President and CEO, Greater Houston Partnership

I was honored Mayor Turner invited me to serve on the Mayor’s Task Force on Policing Reform. I’m pleased the final report achieves our goal of an open and deliberate process, and reflects the work of a diverse group of 45 Houstonians as well as input from the broader community.

This report offers recommendations to improve policing in our community. To be clear, no Houstonian, of any race or creed, should fear an interaction with our police.

The actions that I expect will follow this report will accelerate Houston’s progress toward becoming a more equitable and Inclusive city, and the Houston business community is committed to being a positive force for change on these important issues.
