Statement Regarding HISD Zero Teacher Vacancies

Statement Attributable to Taylor Landin, Chief Policy Officer, Greater Houston Partnership

“There is nothing more important to a student’s education than a good teacher. The fact that Houston ISD is beginning the school year with zero teacher vacancies is extraordinary, especially given the new administration’s short time on the job.

It is clear HISD is focused on ensuring a quality educator in every classroom and delivering quality education to each student in every neighborhood across the district. This is key to improving student outcomes.

We look forward to the start of school on Monday and are grateful to the thousands of teachers and other frontline employees of HISD who are ready to help our children learn and develop.”
