Laura D. Bellows
Laura Bellows joined Bellows in October 2007 and currently serves as President and Chairman of the Board. Involved with the industry for 27 years, Laura is committed to client service in her leadership role as well as continuing the Bellows' family's standards of integrity and excellence. Laura graduated from Vanderbilt University with a double major in Business Administration and Fine Arts and has experience in public relations and writing. She also draws on years of experience serving the Houston community in numerous volunteer leadership and organizational roles. Laura serves on the board of the Rice Design Alliance, Greater Houston Partnership, and the Advisory Board of the Urban Land Institute.
Family-owned since 1914 with the fourth generation now working for the company, Bellows has experience constructing buildings in many sectors including performing arts theaters, museums, office buildings, retail buildings, industrial facilities, hospitals, churches, wastewater treatment plants, tenant build-outs and complete building renovations. For the past 22 years, Bellows Construction has been a constant presence at Texas Children's Hospital and has worked with several of the Texas Medical Center's institutions including Baylor College of Medicine and St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital.
Bellows will celebrate its 100th anniversary in April of 2014. It is the largest general contractor in Texas that is majority-owned by a woman and is certified as a Women's Business Enterprise (WBE) and as a Historically Underutilized Business (HUB). Bellows has built a variety of significant projects ranging from the San Jacinto Monument to the Wortham Theater. In the summer of 2011, the company completed the Asia Society Texas Center and the Houston Ballet Center for Dance and most recently the Texas Children's Hospital Pavilion for Woman.
