Dr. Melanie Johnson currently serves as President and CEO of Collaborative for Children, an agency that provides the quality ratings for child care centers in the gulf coast region. She previously served as President and CEO of the John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science, where she was able to lead the museum’s achievement of Smithsonian affiliate. Prior to this appointment, she served as NASA’s Space Center Houston’s Director of Education. Dr. Johnson serves on the Board of Directors for the HCA Houston Medical Center, the Foundation Board of Texas Southern University and she was recently appointed as a Texas Commissioner for Animal Health. She holds a B.A. from Auburn University, a Masters from University of Houston and a doctorate in Education from Texas Southern University in Houston.
