Working for Houston’s Economy
Opportunity Houston, chaired by McLane Group Chairman and former Houston Astros owner Drayton McLane, Jr., is an aggressive marketing program that generates leads for economic development organizations throughout Houston's 10-county region. A direct result of the Greater Houston Partnership's 10-year Strategic Plan, the original Opportunity Houston was the $40 million fundraising vehicle established to help create 600,000 regional jobs, attract $60 billion in capital investment and expand foreign trade by $120 billion for the greater Houston area by the end of 2015.
The Greater Houston Partnership's Opportunity Houston program has been an integral part of Houston's economic success over the past few years. Opportunity Houston 1.0 raised $32 million in cash and in-kind investments, all of which was used to benefit the businesses and people of Houston.
The overall impact to the Houston economy was $12.3 billion.(source: Regional Input-Output Modeling System (RIMS II) developed by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis)
