Statement from the Greater Houston Partnership
The Partnership joins with the Houston community in mourning the victims of this week’s shootings in Atlanta. While the investigation into the motive behind this horrific attack is still underway, we know that crimes against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community have increased nationwide over the last year, fueled by discrimination and xenophobia. We cannot allow such crimes targeting any group to go unanswered, and we must forcefully denounce the persistent racism and discrimination that continues to plague our country. In this, our nation’s most diverse city, we must protect our AAPI neighbors and ensure that everyone has a right to opportunity free from fear and discrimination.
